If you have a small to medium dinghy, electric trolling motor, Victorian fishing licence, and a selection of Stump Jumpers then you're in for a good time.

Mullaroo Creek is roughly a 40 minute drive from Renmark in South Australia.  To get there you head from Renmark to Paringa on the Sturt Highway, continue past Paringa and then take a left up Lindsay Point Road.  Continue along Lindsay Point Road where it will eventually turn into a dirt road and then you have entered the Murray Sunset National Park.  You need to eventually take a left turn over Lindsay Bridge and then from The Caravan (a sign posted campsite) onward you will be alongside Mullaroo Creek.

Launching your boat can be a bit difficult if you haven't got a 4WD and good clearance on your boat trailer, but you should always be able to find a suitable location to launch.

Once you're in the creek you need to get a couple of overhead outfits ready with good quality braid that can withstand the underlying snags, and one medium and one large Stump Jumper.  We have had success with pinks, blues and darker colours so it doesn't seem to matter too much.  The trick is to troll at the slowest pace where you still get a good feeling lure action under the water.

If you arrive at the Mullaroo early enough then you'll have enough time to troll up the creek, cruise back with your outboard (carefully watching out for logs), and then go for one more troll up the creek.  With a dedicated effort you can expect to land a Callop or Cod on most trips.  You should check the local Cod season start and end dates before trying to fish for Murray Cod.

Beware of the slippery clay if it is wet because it can be quite boggy and dangerous when trying to make the bridge crossings in the wet weather.
